The myCMMS project started several years ago.
I was looking for a way to manage my Maintenance Department better. I was convinced that using EXCEL sheets weren't very efficient and did not allow me to share information with my colleagues. On the other hand, professional systems like SAP/PM, MAXIMO or DATASTREAM were (and are) costly and complicated.
I then stumbled on FreeCMMS (Chris Morris) on Sourceforge and immediately liked the simplicity of it. It offered a low-learning CMMS that handled very well jobs. But I missed some features like warehouse management, purchasing and Preventive/Predictive Maintenance.
But mostly, I wanted easy communication between the client (production) and maintenance. Everyone should use the system!
