Project Concept

The myCMMS project started several years ago.

I was looking for a way to manage my Maintenance Department better. I was convinced that using EXCEL sheets weren't very efficient and did not allow me to share information with my colleagues. On the other hand, professional systems like SAP/PM, MAXIMO or DATASTREAM were (and are) too costly and too complicated.

I then stumbled on FreeCMMS (Chris Morris) on Sourceforge and immediately liked the simplicity of it. It offered a low-learning CMMS that handled very well jobs. But I missed some features like warehouse management, purchasing and Preventive/Predictive Maintenance.

But mostly, I wanted easy communication between the client (production) and maintenance. Everyone should use the system!

I think new users want to try out before they implement a CMMS system. I therefore started this website with its own domain name www.mycmms.org

Unfortunately, all my new developments require MySQL 5.0 (and this website only supports MySQL 4.0)

  • 2009: Converting all documentation to DokuWiki.
  • 2009: Using PEAR modules for easier upgrading;
  • 2009: Review of the security system:
    • User profiles
    • Viewing profiles (who sees what)
    • Action profiles (who can do what)
  • 2009: OEE and event triggered work
